Blogfolio

1.Introduction Video In this assignment we had 30 seconds to tell the camera about ourselves. Although 30 seconds does not seem that long it was very difficult to come up with things off the top of your head to talk about. I am not shy at all, so this assignment was right up my alley. I enjoyed this assignment because I learned a lot about the other students in the class. This assignment could be something great to use the first week of school in my class room. It would allow my students to know the rest of the class so that they could get along and know one another the rest of the year. The ISTE NETS-T standard met for the assignment is 3C. It meets this standard because we had to use media to introduce our selves to the class rooms by video. 2.Concept Map In this assignment we had to choose a topic that we could teach in our class room. My topic that I chose was high school sports. I used soccer, baseball, basketball, softball, and football. We had to research our sub topics to put information in our concept map. We also had to have two hyperlinks. I choose for my hyperlinks a website that shows children with disabilities play those sports. I choose that to encourage my special needs students to play a sport and that everything is possible. I loved this assignment. It allowed me to see what a great idea this is to use in my class room. The ISTE NETS-T standard met for the assignment is 2A. I think this meets the standard because we had to use a computer which is a digital tool to create our concept map and to research all of our items listed in our concept map. 3.Khan Academy In this assignment we had to watch a video during class on a man named Salman Khan and then we had to write a blog on what we thought about this video. I loved the video because the way he took the time to teach children was amazing to me. The way he took the time to make the YouTube videos to teach certain subjects to help students that have difficulties in certain subjects. This assignment helped me understand that children all will learn different ways. The ISTE NETS-T standard met for the assignment is 3B because Khan used digital resources to teach students learn the materials all different ways that students may learn. 4.Voki In this assignment we had to go to a website called Voki to make a character that could talk just a human. I did not quite understand why this assignment was necessary, but I did that assignment and I played around with it. I that then realized that in a classroom younger student might get help from this assignment. It can better help students in the class remember what was said if an animal is talking to them. ISTE NETS- T standard that was met for the assignment was 2a because we used digital tools to design our Voki character. 5.Gap Minder In this assignment we had to go to gapminder.com and choose a continent to that we wanted to learn about. You could find many things out about that continent like the wealth, the health of people, education, boys vs. girl ratio, work, and so many more. This site was actual overwhelming to choose a subject to blog about. The ISTE NETS-T standards in this assignment were 1b because we had to explore the website that charted problems and information about the continents. 6.World Peace Games In this assignment we had to watch John Hunters World Peace Game. Hunter was a very different character to me, he was very open to his students and got all of them thinking very differently in the class room. For the age I will be teaching I think it is was to in depth for my students to understand and think like that. In this assignment one the ISTE NETS-T standards is video were 1C because we had to reflect what we learning on the video and blog about it. We had to reflect what we learned from him how we might need to teach our students if they need to be taught differently to better understand in the class room. 7.Movie Maker In this assignment we had to choose ten pictures to make a movie video. I extremely loved this assignment. I loved how we could also put in our personal touches into this movie. At first I did not even know that this program existed, and once I started learning about the assignment I wanted to do more. We also had to pick a song to go all with our video to make it more creative. In this assignment one of the ISTE NETS-T standard are 1A because we had to be very creative to make the video and put our on details with the music and pictures in it. 8.Xtranormal For this assignment we had to go to a website called Xtranormal where we had to do a public service announcement. We had to choose characters, their voices, the settings, their hand motions, and facial expressions. My public service announcement was kids fighting hunger. I enjoyed this assignment, it was very interesting and it was something I had never done before. In this assignment one of the ISTE NETS-T standard are 1B because we had to use a digital tool to promote and teach a real problem to others. 9.Software and Hardware Terminology In this assignment we had to all pick our all hardware and software shortcuts. This assignment was very helpful me, especial since I always use a computer. We had to anwer questions about the Mr. Beedle about hardware and software and we had to answer in our blogs. In this assignment the ISTE NETS-T standard 2D because we were assigned question by our teacher based on the technology that we learned. 10. Website In the assignment I believe it was the hardest, it had a lot of detail that we had to enter on our website. I had to be really creative to come up with ideas for a website for my parents to look at online if their child was in my class. On this website we got to make it how we wanted it, add our own personal touches to the website. Since we had to do this website in such a short time I feel like my website was not the best it can be, but I learned what I would need to do in the future so when I will have to do a website for my actual class room I will be more prepared and it will look a lot more professional. The ISTE NETS- T standard met for this assignment was 1A because it talks about being creative, and in when making the website we had to be creative and put our own personal touches to make it like us. Course Reflection When I first started in this class I did not know what to expect, this was actually one of my first classes as a special education major. I enjoyed this class a lot, I loved how we stayed on the computers and learned more about them. I also loved how we learned and talked about the SmartBoard. Since the SmartBoards are now becoming more popular in the class room I loved that we used it some in class and wrote on the board. I also like how we read so many different articles and kept up with the news. My two favorite assignments that we did in the class room were the movie and the website. These were both so interesting to me. I loved how we could add our own personal touches to the website, and when I become a teacher now I will know what to do to better my website for parents of my students can see. The movie maker assignment was very neat also, I did not even know I could ever do that. Technology is going to always be used in the classroom so learning different ways to better my class room was great. I truly enjoyed this class.

Voki #14

To all the colleges that rejected me #17

I think the article was very funny and truthful. I have heard my whole life in highschool that you need to graduate with honors and do community service it will help you get into college. I like her since of humor in this article, she things she talks about I do fully believe, but I believe that the things you can do in highschool can prepare you for college, but it does not make any difference if you do not do these things.

Gapminder #15

On gapminder I researched to population of children from 0 to 4 years old and their life expectancny. The life expectancy 76 percent of children live to age 4. The 14 percent pass away mostly from diseases that they get in the first months of life. I hate that little children lose their lives at a early age becasue of their living conditions.

Lalees Kin #16

The problem in this movie is the children are not getting an education. In the family that we watched the kids seemed like that did not even want to go to school, that eduaction was not a big deal to them. Then some children wish they could go to school, but they can not afford it. If the people would take more time in helping the children instetad of dancing the children might could get a education.

Khan Academy #13

In this video Salman Khan is changing the way people can learn. He wants to use technology to help students in the class room, but not only in the class room but outside also. He has affected teachers, parents, and children. He shows in the classroom how each student learns different. You can see the children that are learning faster to the children that are learning slower. Then the teacher can make a decision on how to better the students by maybe changing up the way they are taught.

Articles #12

I do feel like it is not fair for the students that want an education, that actually care what they do in life are not going to be about to because the government is taking it away from them. Students that do not have the money for college depend on that money to help them get through college.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/03/us-education-database-idUSBRE92204W20130303
I do not like how some schools are keeping information on students, I know it could be used as seeing how they do academically through the years but still. The sharing of the social security number is crazy, and how the principal can give the okay or not for these students information to be given is crazy, what about the parents??

John Hunters World Peace Game #10

1. That he is saying that many people are depending on him and that he has a big responsibility.

2. He used the game for to challenge people, for them to try their best. He also used his own experiences in the game. Also children love games, they have more of an intrest with games.

3. One of the roles in the game is leadership. Its making people see they need ot step up.

4. John Hunter referred to himself as a facilitaory

5. Condelence letter served as a way to teach the children respect.

6. John Hunter: Caring Passionate Fun

7. I would not feel to successful teaching my students this game, I did not quite understand it all my self, so that mean i would not be able to teach it well.

High School Sports

I.       Softball

Softball started in 1887.  Softball is a girls sport, there is fast and slow pitch softball. Some people think that softball is just like baseball in every way but it is not. Softball uses bigger balls, and bigger bats and gloves. The distance between the bases are also shorter for softball, and the infield and outfield is a shorter distance. There is no difference in high school softball than college softball.

Soccers main rule is do not touch the ball with your hands. There are no times outs like there is in every other sport and there is an off sides rule.

IV.    Football

High school football dates back to the 19th century, and even though you might think that high school ball is just like college there are several different rules and regulations.High school football only has 12 minutes quarters while college has 15 minute quarters. The kickoff takes place on the 40 yard line instead of the 35 in college. Pass interference by the defense in a 15 yard penalty but in college the place it at the spot of foul.

A.    Football

1.    Field Goals

B.    Shoulder Pads

V.     Basketball

High school basketball started in 1891. In the 19th century basketball began to grow rapidly. It became an interscholastic sport due to the people wanted to play and the modest equipment. instuctional tech #7

http://www.edutopia.org/blog/ipads-transform-classroom-ben-johnson
In this article it is talking about how the iPad can transform a class room. I chose this article to write my blog about considering this discussion has been brought up numerous times in our class room. This article explains how the iPad can truly help out our class room and the way children learn. An iPad can get the children more involved with what is going on in the class room. I believe there are pros and cons to using iPads or some other tablet in the class room. Yes, an iPad can be very helpful with learning and get the student interested in what is going on in the class room, but what about the expense? Is the school going to provide the iPad or other tablet for the student? What about students that have social networking? Are they actually going to be on their iPad or tablet for school, or will they be sending a tweet? Maybe they younger students should be allowed with the iPad, or maybe the iPads should be supplied by the schools and there is a block on all social websites. This is just something for any elementary school or high school to think about.

computer terms #6

1. Software  is a program that is a series of instuctions that show you to do things.
2. Hardware is anything you can touch on your computer. input keyboard, mouse, scanner. output printer, speaker, screen
3. CPU is central proccessing unit, it carries out instructions from your key board. It takes care of all the calculations.
4. RAM is random access memory, it allows your computer to quickly. The more RAM you have the faster your computer is.
5. ROM is read only memory. It helps boot the system up and if your power goes off it saves all information.
6. A harddrive is for saving the information that is on your computer.

the machine is using us #5

Is every thing is based on our computers, our technology? Every one communicates through the computer now. Are we addicted to our technology? Maybe the machine is "using us" because all we put on our social medias is now out there, its not just ours. Anything we put on the web can be used, therefore the machine can use us.

The dirty and dangerous side of technology # 4

I had always known that technology sometimes was not best for our heath, but after reading this article I did not know how serious it could be for our health. Even though these gadgets of ours are dangerous does not mean that we will stop buying or using them. Maybe if we do slack off of buying the products it can better our chances of not contaminating anything, but americans now a days are very selfish so no matter what we might be doing wrong we are not gonna give up what we like just to please or help out other people.

Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend #2

As I was reading the article about Manti Te'o I was honestly torn in which way I should swing towards. Was he telling the truth or was he lying. There have been many different sides of the story by way of tv, newspapers, and even the radio. Its really hard for me to believe that he was just making up a girlfriend just for more attention. He is already a star football player, what more attention does he need? I believe it might have started out as a small joke or something and then escalated. Maybe he did know this girl, and maybe he did meet her, but what if it was someone that Manti Te'o knew and just wanted to play a horrid prank on him, and that person never knew it was escalate like this.

Introduction #1

Hi, my name is Morgan Pace and I live in Laurel, Ms. This is my first semester attending USM as a junior, I just recently graduated from JCJC. My major is special education with a minor in sports coaching. My goals in life are just like any other college student, graduate from USM and get an excellent job. After I graduate and find a job I then will start on my master’s degree. Dyslexia is what I am interested in getting my master in at USM. Outside of class I love to work out, paint, and play any sport. I am a very athletic and outgoing person. I am always up for a challenge and I will do my best in everything I do. I do not give up easily at all, if I have the will power to do something I will always stick with it until it is done. I work a 12 to 5 job Monday thru Friday at SCRMC. I am a very family oriented person. I absolutely love my parents, they are literally my biggest fans, they have supported me in anything and everything I have done and want to do with my life. I have one sister who is married and she has two children. My nephews are my two main squeezes, they are 15 months apart. Harrison in 2 and Haygen is 1 and I really do not know what I would do without these two boys in my life. I will sit at home every weekend just to be with them and do whatever they want their “momo” to do. My life consists of school, work, family, and my boyfriend and that’s a little bit about me.

pay attention video #3

1. The information in the video made me realize how many different people use technology these days. That small children have cell phones that they can not go a day about. So if teachers see that if they maybe try and use technology for our students to learn. Students would be more interested in learning by things that they are interested in themselves. If students are interested in learning by using phones, ipods, or ipads why not if you can keep their attention by using technology.

2. The main one statement to me was, "If you cant beat them, Join them. Students are going to use their technology whether the teacher tells them not to have in class or not. So why not make them allowed in class and get better use out of technology by teaching?

3. In the future i will try to work technology into my class room, but their will be pros and cons to that. If i have a younger class I believe cell phones will be used far and few between.
